Public & Community Health
The Public and Community Health pathway introduces students to how communities promote health, prevent disease, and support overall well-being. Students learn how health extends beyond hospitals and clinics to include education, access to resources, and community-based programs that improve quality of life.
Instruction focuses on health promotion, disease prevention, public health systems, and the social and environmental factors that influence health outcomes. Students explore topics such as nutrition, mental health, wellness education, and community outreach while developing communication and advocacy skills.
This pathway supports preparation for careers in public health, community outreach, health education, and human services. It also provides a strong foundation for college programs in public health, health sciences, social work, or community health–related fields. Students may have opportunities to prepare for health, first aid, or community health–related certifications that support future academic and career goals.
