Patient Care: Dental Assistant
The Dental Assistant pathway introduces students to oral healthcare and the role dental assistants play in supporting dentists and patients. Students learn how dental offices operate while developing an understanding of dental terminology, patient care practices, and professional standards used in dental settings.
Instruction focuses on chairside assisting fundamentals, infection control, dental safety, patient communication, and basic dental procedures. Students gain hands-on experience in creating a safe and supportive environment for patients while learning the importance of accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
This pathway prepares students for entry-level dental assisting roles and continued education in dental or healthcare-related programs. Students may also have opportunities to prepare for dental assistant or healthcare-related certifications that support career readiness and postsecondary options.
