Patient Care: Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant pathway prepares students with the clinical and administrative skills needed to support healthcare providers and patients in a variety of medical office settings. Students learn how healthcare teams function while gaining hands-on experience in patient care, medical terminology, and everyday clinical procedures.
Instruction focuses on taking vital signs, infection control, basic clinical tasks, patient communication, and front-office responsibilities such as scheduling, medical records, and insurance-related processes. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, ethical decision-making, patient safety, and effective communication within healthcare environments.
This pathway supports preparation for entry-level healthcare roles and continued education in nursing, allied health, or medical sciences. Students may also have opportunities to prepare for industry-recognized healthcare certifications that strengthen career readiness and postsecondary options.
