Student Ambassadors
The North Orange County ROP Student Ambassador Program empowers students to develop leadership skills, strengthen their Career Ready Practices (CRPs), and represent ROP in real-world settings. Ambassadors meet virtually or in person on the first Wednesday of each month during the school year, participating in interactive activities, workshops, and presentations from local business leaders, elected officials, and ROP staff.
Through roles in committees such as Marketing, Advocacy, Community Engagement, and Celebration of Success, students advocate for high‑quality Career Technical Education (CTE), amplify NOCROP’s mission and values, and help build strong connections with community partners, parents, industry, and postsecondary institutions. The program elevates student voice, supports civic engagement, and encourages involvement in the legislative process while offering opportunities to attend events and board meetings throughout the year.

Selection Process
Students applying to the NOCROP Student Ambassador Program must submit a complete application package that demonstrates their readiness to lead and represent their schools and programs. A full application includes several required documents that help the selection team understand the student’s academic standing, interest, and commitment. Applicants are encouraged to review everything carefully before submitting.
A complete application includes:
- The application form
- A signed Student/Parent Agreement
- A Statement of Interest
- A NOCROP CTE Instructor or Counselor Recommendation Form, including verification of a minimum 3.0 GPA
Once submitted, applications are reviewed based on the materials provided, along with the recommendation letter, and some students may be invited to participate in an interview panel. Each year, 10 or more ambassadors are selected, with the goal of representing all five partner districts, a broad range of career pathways and ROP programs, and the diversity of the student population. Applicants should be prepared to commit to a full academic year of active participation. Students who successfully complete the year, with consistent attendance, engagement in program activities, and good academic standing, may be eligible to participate in the program for a second year.
What Student Ambassadors May Get to Do
As a NOCROP Student Ambassador, you’ll take on meaningful leadership roles that help shape events, tell powerful stories, and represent the organization across the community. Ambassadors are active, visible, and hands‑on… your voice truly matters. Responsibilities may include:
- Leading meetings and representing NOCROP at key events while serving as a student liaison to ROP leadership.
- Supporting major outreach events like Career Fairs, the OC Pathways Showcase, and Celebration of Success; helping with planning, coordination, and on‑site logistics.
- Contributing to marketing and storytelling, which may include creating social media content, producing promotional materials, or writing student‑focused articles.
- Serving as a “Legislative Liaison,” where you may help coordinate advocacy efforts for Legislative Action Day in Sacramento in Spring 2027.
- Participating in one of our student-led committees like Advocacy, Marketing, Community Engagement, or Celebration of Success; where you’ll collaborate on projects that directly impact the ROP community.
Training
As a Student Ambassador, you’ll take part in experiences that sharpen your confidence and elevate your leadership potential. Ambassadors receive hands‑on training in public speaking, advocacy, and professional communication, preparing them to present to the Board of Trustees, participate in advocacy events, and represent NOCROP at community engagements.
Training sessions and monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 4:30–6:00 p.m. Throughout the year, you’ll participate in a mix of virtual and in‑person meetings held at the North Orange County ROP Office. Please refer to the program schedule for specific dates and formats.
Note: Ambassadors must have reliable transportation to attend off‑site community events and activities throughout the year.
