American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Provider Level Certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) is a set of medical procedures that includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other techniques used to help people in cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, or with an obstructed airway. BLS is also known as Basic Cardiac Life Support.
BLS certification is a training course for healthcare professionals, first responders, and public safety personnel. The course teaches how to perform CPR and how to apply and use an automated external defibrillator (AED), as well as how to relieve airway obstructions. The AHA’s BLS Provider course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation, and provide early use of an AED.
Participants will also learn:
• High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
• The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
• Important early use of an AED
• Effective ventilations using a barrier device
• Importance of teams in multi rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multi rescuer CPR
• Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
BLS certification is valid for two years.
This course is in-person, on one day, for 5.5-hours.
