COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course trains students to assist a physician and work in a laboratory or medical office. Students learn the following content and skills:
- Medical and surgical asepsis
- Assisting with the physical examination of the patient and minor surgical procedures
- Electrocardiography
- Administration of medication by physician order
- Laboratory skills for blood withdrawal, urinalysis, and specimen collection
- Assisting with diagnostic procedures
- Nutrition
- Vital signs
- Introduction to basic anatomy and physiology as well as diseases commonly related to the medical office experience
- Medical terminology
- Medical office administrative skills
After completing the Medical Assistant Training Program along with 120-160 hours of work-related experience, the student will be eligible to take the Medical Assistant certification exam through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
Note: All externship placements are within the North Orange County Region.

PAYMENT PLAN
1st Payment – $500 due July 13, 2026
2nd Payment – $1,425 due September 26, 2026
3rd Payment – $1,425 due December 5, 2026
*Full payment required two weeks prior to externship to complete course and receive certificate

Course Features
Prerequisites:
Successful completion of Medical Terminology.
Basic computer knowledge including Google & Microsoft programs.
Student must have valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) CPR card prior to start date. For information about our monthly CPR classes, call us at 714-502-5904 |
NCCT Medical Assistant Certification requires a high school diploma or GED*
* For those who do not have a high school diploma or GED, a Medical Assistant certification examination is available through the California Certified Board for Medical Assistant (CCBMA), for approximately $145.
Uniform/Dress Code is required.
